Emergency roof repair in Portishead
Storm damage, missing slates and water coming through the ceiling. We make the roof safe and watertight as quickly as we can reach you.
When the weather comes in off the estuary
The Met Office notes that Atlantic depressions are at their most vigorous in autumn and winter, and that the strongest winds in this part of the country nearly always come from between south and north-west. In April 2024 North Somerset Council put crews on standby to close the seafronts at Clevedon and Portishead when high tides coincided with strong winds. The houses on the slopes facing the water feel those days first.
If you have lost slates or tiles, a ridge has come loose, or water is coming in, ring 0800 494 7291.
While you wait for us
Stay safe
Do not go up a ladder in high wind or rain. Keep clear of anything that could fall from the roof.
Contain the water
Buckets under drips, towels down, and move valuables. If water is near light fittings, turn off that circuit at the consumer unit.
Take photos
Pictures of the damage inside and outside help us and help with any insurance claim.
Call us
Tell us what you can see and we will arrange the earliest visit we can.
Make safe, then repair
Temporary weatherproofing first
Where a full repair is not possible straight away, we make the roof watertight with sheeting or temporary repairs.
A proper repair after
Once the weather allows, we come back and repair it properly, and quote for that separately.
Insurance
We can provide photos and a written report of the damage for your insurer.
Honest about timing
In a big storm everyone calls at once. We will tell you honestly when we can get to you.
Emergency questions
Do you come out in the evenings and at weekends?
Call us and we will tell you what we can do. Making a roof watertight comes first.
Will my insurance cover storm damage?
Many home policies cover storm damage, but terms vary. Check your policy; we can supply photos and a report.
Is the emergency repair guaranteed?
Temporary make-safe work is exactly that. The permanent repair that follows is covered by our 20 year written guarantee.
